Working days are not working hours

Ten working days to a deadline sounds like plenty until the meetings are taken out. A calendar that is two-thirds booked leaves about three days of real work in those ten. That is the sum Radar does for every deadline you carry: the hours a job needs against the free hours left in your calendar before its date. It is called calendar runway.

Questions

England and Wales: 253. Scotland: 252. Northern Ireland: 251. That is every Monday to Friday less that nation’s bank holidays.

Does it count the first and last day?

Yes. Both dates you choose are counted if they are working days. To leave the first day out, start the count the day after.

Which bank holidays does it leave out?

GOV.UK’s, for the nation you choose, 2026 to 2028, read 15 October 2026. Scotland and Northern Ireland have bank holidays England and Wales do not, so the same two dates can give different answers.

Does it know about my own days off?

No. It counts Monday to Friday less bank holidays. Leave, part-time days and office closures are yours to take off the answer. Radar counts the real free hours in your calendar instead.

Count the hours, not just the days
