Put it on my Radar, from Outlook
A button on the email you are reading. Put it on your Radar with a date and the hours it needs, and see straight away whether your calendar has the time before it is due, with times to reserve.
For Outlook on the web, Windows and Mac. It needs a Radar account.
What it does
- Put it on. Open an email and press Put on Radar in Outlook’s toolbar. Give it a date and the hours it needs; the title starts as the subject.
- See the runway. Radar checks your calendar and says whether there is enough time before the date: enough, just enough, or not enough, and what to do about it.
- Reserve the time. Press Reserve beside a suggested slot and it goes in your Outlook calendar as a focus block, marked Radar.
The conversation is the job: if anything in it is already on your Radar, the add-in says so rather than adding it twice. For the email it is open beside, the add-in sends Radar its message id, subject and sender, and whose mailbox it is in. Never the body.
For executive assistants: a manager's mailbox
If you are a delegate of someone's mailbox in Outlook, you can put an email from their mailbox on their Radar, see its runway and reserve time in their calendar. Three things must be true, and Radar checks them with Microsoft every time, using the manager's own sign-in:
- The manager has switched it on in Radar (Settings → Outlook) and connected their mailbox. They can switch it off at any time.
- Exchange lists you as a delegate of, or able to edit, the manager's calendar, under the address you sign in to Radar with, and you are in the same Radar workspace.
- The email is in the manager's mailbox.
Remove someone as a delegate in Outlook and it stops on their next action. A delegate sees only what they added and its runway, never the rest of the manager's Radar, and every item says who added it.
Install it
Yourself: open aka.ms/olksideload while signed in to Outlook on the web, then My add-ins → Custom add-ins → Add a custom add-in → Add from URL, and paste:
https://app.radar-os.io/outlook/manifest.xml
It then appears in Outlook on Windows and Mac as well. The first time you open it, it asks you to sign in to Radar in a small window.
For a whole organisation: a Microsoft 365 administrator can deploy it to everyone from the Microsoft 365 admin centre (Settings → Integrated apps) with the same address.
Questions
Does it read my email?
Only the email it is open beside (and, if you pin it open, each email you move to), and only its message id, subject and sender, to find whether it is already on your Radar. If your mailbox is connected to Radar, Radar finds the same message there to link the item to it.
Can I sign it out?
Yes. Each device the add-in is signed in on is listed in Radar under Settings → Outlook, with Sign out beside it. The add-in has its own Sign out too.
Does it work in Outlook on my phone?
Not yet. It works in Outlook on the web, Windows and Mac.
